Director/VP, Credit Department – Financial Institutions

About the role

This senior position leads the Credit Department focused on financial institutions, overseeing credit analysis, risk monitoring, and structured financing solutions. The role works closely with derivatives marketers, relationship managers, risk, legal, and senior credit approvers to ensure sound credit decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fundamental credit analyses on banks and non‑bank counterparties.
• Continuously monitor assigned portfolio, maintain accurate risk ratings, and flag credit quality deterioration.
• Evaluate derivatives and securities financing transactions, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to mitigate risk.
• Assess lending and structured financing proposals for senior‑level approval.
• Prepare executive‑summary credit recommendations highlighting key risks, mitigants, and conclusions.
• Contribute to the development of a Credit Counterparty Risk (CCR) framework.
• Maintain relationships with customers through due‑diligence meetings and performance updates.
• Produce periodic portfolio reports for the credit team.
• Participate in special projects as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of credit risk experience, preferably analyzing banks.
• Strong understanding of derivatives and securities financing transaction product risks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with strong analytical attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive under pressure.
