Field Service Engineer – Flow Cytometry Instruments

About the role

Waters Biosciences, part of BD Biosciences and Diagnostic Solutions, is hiring a Field Service Engineer in Singapore. The engineer provides post-sales technical support for the installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of instruments, with a primary focus on flow cytometry instruments and associated systems. The role aims to keep instruments running, deliver excellent customer service, support revenue-generating service activities and help develop the service team.

Key responsibilities

• Install and commission instruments according to GDPMS guidelines and company procedure, and carry out preventive maintenance within service schedules.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues reported by customers, and provide maintenance and repair for instruments under warranty and service contracts.
• Document and report all service activities.
• Train customers on instrument operation, basic maintenance and best practices, and support service contract renewals and pricing reviews for service contracts and spare parts.
• Provide technical guidance and training to other service engineers and help them troubleshoot complex issues.
• Plan and monitor monthly spare parts and preventive maintenance kit inventory to minimise downtime.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Life Sciences or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in instrumentation (biomedical/biotech lab instruments preferred).
• Experience with biomedical, biotechnology, clinical laboratory or analytical instruments preferred; flow cytometry service experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong technical background in instrument installation, maintenance and repair.
• Flow cytometry instrumentation and troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Analytical, problem-solving and fault-diagnosis skills.
• Good communication, customer service and relationship management skills.
• Ability to coach and mentor team members, and good planning and inventory management skills.
