Head of Government Relations / GR Director

About the role

The Head of Government Relations will shape and execute the organisation's public policy and government engagement strategy. Reporting to senior leadership, this executive will build strong relationships with government bodies, regulators, industry associations and key stakeholders to support business growth and protect corporate reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor policy developments and analyse legislative trends affecting the business.
• Develop and implement government engagement strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Represent the organisation in meetings with public institutions, industry forums and policy consultations.
• Prepare policy briefs, executive reports and regulatory submissions.
• Coordinate advocacy initiatives, stakeholder engagement programmes and crisis management activities.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, corporate communications, sustainability, business development and operations teams.
• Oversee industry partnerships and drive continuous improvement in government relations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Business, Economics or related field; advanced degree desirable.
• Proven executive leadership experience in government relations, public affairs or regulatory affairs.
• Deep understanding of government decision‑making, legislative processes and regulatory frameworks.
• Extensive experience developing engagement strategies and managing relationships with government agencies.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
