IT Security Engineering Intern

About the role

A motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern is sought to join the Security Architecture & Engineering function under the CISO. The internship gives hands-on experience protecting enterprise systems, networks and data from cyber threats, while exposing key stakeholders involved in maintaining and managing security controls. It is a full-time position available to start in January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Help document architecture decisions, security design patterns, engineering standards and day-to-day work.
• Develop and maintain Excel dashboards tracking cybersecurity KPIs such as incident count, patch compliance and vulnerability status.
• Research emerging cybersecurity threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Work with senior cybersecurity engineers to help design and implement secure network and system architectures.
• Assist in evaluating new security technologies and tools, preparing comparative analysis reports for engineering leadership.
• Shadow senior engineers during security assessments and architecture planning sessions.
• Contribute to automation by writing scripts or using tools to streamline security operations and engineering tasks.
• Support the creation of technical documentation, diagrams and presentations for internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, network protocols and operating systems.
• Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, antivirus software and SIEM platforms is a plus.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Required skills

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH and IF statements.
• Experience with pivot tables, charts and data visualisation techniques.
