Legal Counsel – Data Protection & Privacy Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel with a focus on data protection to join our Singapore team. The role will support global privacy, cybersecurity, and data governance initiatives, providing practical legal advice and ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise internal stakeholders on privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and data governance matters worldwide.
• Interpret and apply GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, Singapore PDPA and other relevant regulations.
• Support cross‑border data transfer compliance, including SCCs, TIAs, consent mechanisms and data‑localisation analysis.
• Conduct privacy reviews for products, marketing campaigns, AI initiatives, vendors and data‑sharing activities.
• Draft, review and negotiate data‑protection clauses in commercial agreements, DPAs, SCCs and vendor contracts.
• Assist with DPIAs, PIAs, data‑mapping, records of processing activities and legitimate‑interest assessments.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into business‑friendly policies, SOPs and training materials.
• Participate in data‑incident and breach response, providing legal assessment and coordinating notifications.

Required profile

• Law degree or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in data protection, privacy, cybersecurity or technology compliance.
• Background in a multinational tech company, fintech, SaaS/cloud provider or reputable law firm is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of major data‑protection frameworks (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, Singapore PDPA).
• Proven ability to assess legal risks independently and deliver business‑oriented advice.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
