Legal Counsel – Energy Industry

About the role

Sembcorp Utilities Services is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its Gas & Related Services line of business. The role provides legal and compliance expertise to senior management and internal stakeholders, helping the company navigate commercial contracts and regulatory requirements in the energy sector.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of legal and compliance services aligned with corporate goals.
• Provide legal advice to senior management on commercial and regulatory matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with external parties.
• Assess legal aspects of existing relationships and manage pre‑litigation disputes.
• Develop and maintain company policies, procedures, and standards related to legal and compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely compliance updates.
• Identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks across business operations.
• Lead or support special projects, including cross‑functional initiatives involving engineering, finance, and regulatory teams.

• Experience handling cross‑functional projects involving engineering, finance and regulatory considerations.
• Hands‑on experience with gas (LNG/PNG), electricity generation, solar PV, utilities contracts, EPC and O&M contracts is advantageous.
