Legal Counsel – Insurance & Technology

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Legal Counsel to join Great Eastern’s group of companies. The role focuses on providing legal support for both life and general insurance businesses, with a strong emphasis on technology, AI initiatives, and insurance product development.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review IT and AI‑related agreements, including software licences, SaaS contracts, cloud services and technology outsourcing.
• Support the creation and amendment of insurance products such as Accident & Health policies, reviewing policy wordings, endorsements, marketing and distribution documentation.
• Provide legal advice on agency incentive schemes, commission structures and remuneration frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage litigation and disputes, liaise with external counsel, and oversee internal reporting for agency and claims‑related matters.
• Monitor regulatory developments and emerging legal risks in technology, AI, insurance distribution and claims handling, and advise stakeholders accordingly.

Required profile

• Law degree from a reputable university and admission to the Singapore Bar.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in insurance, with exposure to IT contract drafting or corporate/commercial litigation.
• Agile, resourceful and able to work under tight timelines.
• Strong interpersonal skills, high integrity and accountability, and a collaborative team attitude.
• Ability to work independently and drive process improvements.
