Legal Counsel – Singapore Branch

About the role

Export Development Canada (EDC) is seeking a solution‑oriented corporate and commercial lawyer to join its Legal Services team in Singapore. The Legal Counsel will provide legal representation and advice to support financing transactions and the corporation’s governance, regulatory compliance, procurement, and human‑resources activities for the Singapore branch.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of financing transactions, from development and structuring to negotiation and documentation.
• Identify and assess legal issues, recommending appropriate risk‑mitigation measures.
• Draft and review legal documentation for corporate lending, project finance, aircraft transactions, and related matters.
• Support asset‑management activities as required.
• Advise on governance, regulatory compliance, procurement and HR matters specific to the Singapore branch.

Required profile

• Qualified corporate/commercial lawyer with experience in financing transactions.
• Ability to handle both transactional and non‑transactional legal work.
• Comfortable working collaboratively with a supervisor and mentor from EDC’s head office.
• Willingness to work from the Singapore branch office.
