Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for independently troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment on the production floor. You will ensure timely restoration of machinery during breakdowns and support preventive maintenance to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical components such as motors, control circuits, contactors, sensors and switches.
• Diagnose mechanical faults in gearboxes, pneumatic systems, belts, bearings, rotating equipment and basic hydraulics.
• Carry out mechanical adjustments, component replacements and minor repairs to restore equipment operation.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Execute basic PLC fault checks, monitor SCADA alarms and perform simple troubleshooting of PLC interfaces and production software.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and breakdown reports in the CMMS.
• Conduct facility inspections, perform basic repairs and coordinate with production to minimise downtime.
• Follow LOTO procedures, conduct basic root‑cause analysis (5 Why) and uphold 5S standards.
• Assist with equipment installation, calibration and process improvement projects.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns.
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of LOTO safety procedures and basic root‑cause analysis techniques.
• Strong record‑keeping skills for CMMS documentation.
• Effective collaboration with production and maintenance teams.

Required skills

• Electrical troubleshooting (motors, control circuits, contactors, sensors, switches).
• Mechanical troubleshooting (gearboxes, pneumatic systems, belts, bearings, hydraulics).
• Basic PLC fault checking (I/O status, alarm review, fault reset).
• SCADA alarm monitoring.
• CMMS data entry and maintenance reporting.
