PCB Layout Design Engineer

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is looking for a detail-oriented PCB Layout Engineer to design and develop high-quality printed circuit board layouts for complex electronic systems. The engineer works closely with electrical, mechanical and manufacturing teams so that designs meet performance, reliability and manufacturability requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and layout multi-layer, high-density PCB boards, including component placement and signal routing
• Translate schematics into manufacturable PCB designs, focusing on signal integrity, power integrity and thermal performance
• Define stack-ups, impedance control and routing constraints for high-speed designs (e.g. DDR, PCIe, SERDES)
• Generate PCB fabrication and assembly packages (Gerber, ODB++, drawings, BOM)
• Perform design rule checks, validation and troubleshooting of PCB layouts
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on design requirements and system constraints
• Work with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure DFM/DFA compliance and successful production builds
• Support prototype bring-up, debugging and layout optimisation for cost, performance and yield
• Maintain design documentation, libraries and revision control

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or a related field
• 3 to 8+ years of experience in PCB layout/design (level dependent)
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Cross-functional collaboration with EE, ME and manufacturing teams
• Attention to detail and documentation discipline

Required skills

• Proficiency in PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer, Mentor or Zuken
• Solid understanding of high-speed digital design, signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI)
• EMC/EMI mitigation techniques
• Experience with multi-layer, high-density boards and modern fabrication processes
• Preferred: experience with complex systems (industrial, semiconductor tools, automotive, high-reliability electronics), DFM/DFT best practices, board bring-up and IPC CID certification
