Principal Architect

About the role

NETS Solutions, the wholly owned subsidiary of Network For Electronic Transfers, develops payment infrastructure and transaction processing solutions for central banks, banks and clearing houses in Singapore and the region. The Principal Architect is a senior technology leader responsible for architecture governance, solution excellence, engineering standards, technology innovation and engineering effectiveness. The role provides strategic and hands-on architectural leadership for business-critical initiatives, sets and governs architecture standards and reference patterns, and acts as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of complex, high-value, strategic solutions and partner with clients and delivery teams to turn business objectives into scalable, maintainable architectures.
• Guide delivery teams on architectural, integration, performance, security and operational challenges, and act as the escalation point for critical technology decisions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and platforms, recommending approaches that improve quality, delivery outcomes and long-term sustainability.
• Drive the adoption of AI-assisted software engineering, establish standards and guardrails for its responsible use, and champion specification-driven and architecture-driven development.
• Lead and mentor a team of architects, coach engineers and technical leaders, and build communities of practice and technical learning programs.
• Define and govern architecture principles, standards, reference patterns and design practices, run architecture reviews and ensure designs meet security, operational and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture or related technology leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading architecture design and governance for large-scale, high-availability, high-transaction-volume systems.
• Experience establishing architecture standards, governance frameworks and review processes across multiple delivery teams.
• Proven experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams in complex technology environments and supporting major transformations.
