Prison Officer

About the role

The Prison Officer is a correctional officer who helps reform lives and keep society safe. After completing a 30-week Prison Officer Course (a residential phase at the Home Team Academy and on-the-job training at a prison institution), new officers are deployed as Correctional Unit Officers (CUO) to ensure the safe and secure custody of inmates and support their rehabilitation and reintegration.

Required profile

• Diploma, GCE 'A' Level, five GCE 'O' Level passes, Higher Nitec or Nitec
• Medically and physically fit; men must meet PES B1 or higher, or not be exempted from IPPT under the revised Medical Classification System

Recruitment takes about four months and includes a selection assessment, panel interview and medical screening; applicants are contacted within two to four weeks.

• Monthly salary of $3,040-$3,460 depending on qualifications, with possible increments for experience, qualifications and National Service
