Product Development Engineer

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring a Product Development Engineer in Singapore. The role covers mechanical design, sustaining engineering, engineering change management and cross-functional collaboration on products such as the Surfscan wafer inspection tools.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical design and product support: design, develop and implement mechanical and opto-mechanical subsystem updates, including precision mechanisms, tolerance analysis, GD&T and structural, thermal and vibration analysis
• Sustaining engineering and field support: investigate field, factory and reliability issues, drive CAPA, support escalations with service teams and analyse product data and failure trends
• Engineering change and lifecycle management: lead or support ECRs and ECOs, maintain drawings, BOMs and specifications, manage component obsolescence and ensure configuration control
• Manufacturing collaboration: work with systems, electrical, optics, manufacturing and supply chain teams, support factory builds, integration and troubleshooting, and drive DFx improvements
• Continuous improvement: identify cost reduction, reliability and cycle-time improvements, and make incremental design changes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 2-5 years of relevant experience (typical P2 range)
• Experience with mechanical design of complex systems or equipment
• Experience in semiconductor capital equipment or precision instrumentation
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal and injection molding
• Occasional travel of about 10-20% to customer sites, manufacturing locations and suppliers

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools such as Creo or SolidWorks
• Familiarity with vacuum systems, precision stages or mechatronics
• Structural, thermal and vibration analysis
• Root cause analysis and troubleshooting
• Strong problem-solving, independent work and clear technical communication
