Project Manager (Engineering and Material Science)

About the role

The NTI-NTU Corporate Laboratory, a collaboration between Nanofilm Technologies International Limited (NTI), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and supported by Singapore under RIE2025, is looking for a Project Manager to support the delivery of co-funded multidisciplinary research projects across the laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full project lifecycle from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring and closeout.
• Develop and maintain project plans, Gantt charts, milestones, resource schedules and reporting timelines.
• Monitor project progress and expenditure, including planned-versus-actual analysis, and coordinate corrective actions where necessary.
• Coordinate with funding agencies, industry partners, University administration, principal investigators, researchers, engineers, suppliers and collaborators.
• Prepare project status reports, progress updates and financial summaries for stakeholder and governance requirements.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, manage issues proactively and escalate significant matters appropriately.
• Support grant administration and ensure compliance with funding agreements, funding agency guidelines and University policies.

Required profile

• MSc and/or degree in Engineering or Materials Science; a relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
• At least 6-8 years of project management experience, preferably in a research, academic or multi-stakeholder environment.
• Strong stakeholder management, analytical, reporting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Mandarin to communicate with suppliers, partners and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Certified CAPM or PMP, with active certification preferred.
• Experience applying waterfall, agile or hybrid project management methodologies to research-driven projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project or equivalent tools such as Smartsheet, Primavera P6 or ProjectLibre, as well as Microsoft Office.
