Project Officer – Bioinformatics & Lab Management

About the role

Join the School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University to support laboratory operations and drive bioinformatics analyses. The Project Officer will manage lab resources, coordinate procurement, and provide technical data‑analysis support to research teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of consumables, reagents, and equipment.
• Coordinate procurement, liaise with vendors, and ensure timely servicing.
• Ensure laboratory compliance with safety regulations and institutional guidelines.
• Prepare and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Risk Assessments (RAs).
• Oversee daily lab operations, documenting resources and workflows.
• Prepare biological samples for next‑generation sequencing and related downstream applications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in lab management and hands‑on data analysis.
• Strong planning, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Proficiency in R.
• Proficiency in Bash scripting.
• Familiarity with single‑cell RNA‑seq analysis.
• Familiarity with spatial transcriptomics techniques.
