Project Officer (Engineering)

About the role

The NTI-NTU Corporate Laboratory, a collaboration between Nanofilm Technologies International Limited, Nanyang Technological University and supported by Singapore under RIE2025, is hiring a Project Officer. The selected candidate will innovate hybridized composite materials and thin film coatings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a thorough literature review and generate periodic updates
• Assist in setting up and running experiments according to research protocols
• Carry out assays and analysis to optimise and control functional performance (coating thickness, uniformity, active agent delivery, degradation profile, mechanical strength)
• Run biochemical and biological assays to assess bioavailability and cytotoxicity of the developed products
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all research work
• Manage logistics, including laboratory inventory, supply tracking and procurement
• Support coordination and communication within the multidisciplinary team and with external collaborators
• Help prepare periodic progress reports required by the funding agency
• Disseminate research results in peer-reviewed journals and/or international conferences

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a closely related field from a recognised institution
• Experience in biomaterials, thin film coatings and basic material characterisation (SEM, EDX, XRD)
• Experience in mammalian cell culture and aseptic handling
• Familiarity with graphing software such as Origin/OriginPro or GraphPad Prism for data analysis
• Familiarity with cytotoxicity and osteogenic differentiation assays (preferred)
• Good communication and writing skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse, interdisciplinary research environment
• Ability to take initiative, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
