Research Assistant – AI & Computational Biology

About the role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join Dr. Fuying Dao's team at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University. The role focuses on AI‑driven computational biology projects, developing methods for the analysis of genomic and epigenomic data.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, process, and analyse omics datasets such as RNA‑seq, Hi‑C, ChIA‑PET and ATAC‑seq.
• Design, implement and evaluate machine‑learning and deep‑learning models for biological questions.
• Write, test and maintain research code in Python and R, using relevant bioinformatics tools.
• Perform data preprocessing, quality control, feature extraction and downstream analysis.
• Support the development of AI agent‑based workflows and integrate them with biological knowledge.
• Prepare visualisations, reports, figures and presentations of results.
• Contribute to literature reviews, method development and project documentation.

Required profile

• BSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Biology, Biomedical Science or a related discipline.
• Research or technical experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, AI, machine learning or deep learning.
• Familiarity with omics data types (RNA‑seq, Hi‑C, ChIA‑PET, ATAC‑seq).
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
