Research Assistant – Ingestible Robotics for IBD

About the role

Join the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University as a Research Assistant on a cutting‑edge project developing ingestible robotic platforms for the diagnosis and treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). You will work in a multidisciplinary team to design, fabricate, and test miniaturised robotic capsules and associated sensing and drug‑delivery modules.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and fabricate ingestible robotic capsule systems.
• Conduct in‑vitro and ex‑vivo experiments in simulated gastrointestinal environments.
• Develop and integrate biocompatible sensing modules for IBD biomarker detection.
• Test targeted drug‑delivery mechanisms and evaluate performance.
• Perform data analysis and contribute to research publications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with embedded systems and FPGA development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of low‑power sensing circuit design and wireless communication.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
