Research Assistant – Neuropsychology

About the role

The Science of Learning team at NTU is seeking a Research Assistant to support interdisciplinary research on emerging literacy and numeracy skills. The role involves hands‑on data collection, analysis, and coordination with external partners, contributing to high‑impact neuropsychology studies.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit participants and manage testing schedules.
• Collect data using cognitive assessments, functional near‑infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques.
• Perform data preprocessing, analysis, and maintain analysis pipelines under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.
• Handle research administration tasks, including procurement of equipment and materials.
• Collaborate with external institutions such as schools and project partners.
• Conduct literature reviews and draft policy reports for stakeholders.
• Prepare presentations, manuscripts, and ensure data security and server maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or a related field.
• Strong communication and writing abilities for literature reviews, progress reports and presentations.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to testing sites for data collection.

Required skills

• Experience with cognitive/neuropsychological testing and neuroimaging techniques (fNIRS, fMRI, diffusion MRI such as DTI, HARDI, DSI).
• Proficiency in statistical analysis using SPSS or R.
• Programming skills in Python or MATLAB.
• Familiarity with neuroimaging software for data processing.
