Research Assistant - Perovskite Photovoltaics

About the role

The Andrei laboratory at NTU's School of Materials Science and Engineering develops unconventional approaches to renewable energy harvesting, including photo(electro)catalyst design, moisture encapsulation and reactor engineering. The lab is seeking a Research Assistant to develop perovskite photovoltaic devices for solar energy harvesting, designing layered device architectures based on metal halide perovskite semiconductors through solution- and vacuum-based techniques. The successful candidate contributes substantially to the fabrication and material characterization of devices for collaborative group projects.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in research projects with team members to ensure deliverables are completed
• Produce high-quality reports and documents consolidating research findings
• Develop a bespoke photocatalytic characterisation setup and protocols for product analysis
• Carry out material characterization of photoelectrodes and electrocatalysts developed in the group
• Maintain equipment and supplies, including procurement and liaison with suppliers
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on renewable energy projects
• Mentor junior group members on a daily basis

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong organization and time management

Required skills

• Essential: solution-based device fabrication and material characterization (SEM, EDX, XRD, AFM, UV-vis, PL)
• Highly desirable: vacuum-based processing (thermal evaporation, ALD, PVD, sputtering)
• Desirable: cleanroom experience
• Desirable: data analysis, plotting and interpretation, and manuscript drafting
