Research Associate - Biofabrication and Tissue Engineering

About the role

The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) at NTU is looking for a Research Associate to support the development of in vitro bioelectronic tissue models through biofabrication and biomaterials engineering. The role focuses on designing and fabricating cell-laden hydrogel constructs, conductive biomaterials and engineered tissue platforms, and characterising them biologically, structurally and functionally. It sits at the interface of tissue engineering, biofabrication, biomaterials and bioelectronics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise biofabrication workflows for in vitro tissue models
• Prepare and characterise hydrogels, conductive inks and bioinks
• Perform 3D bioprinting and post-fabrication processing of tissue constructs
• Carry out mammalian cell culture, maintenance and biological assays
• Run electrical stimulation and functional characterisation experiments
• Perform microscopy imaging and quantitative analysis of biological samples
• Support electrochemical and materials characterisation experiments where required
• Maintain accurate experimental records and help prepare manuscripts and reports
• Contribute to laboratory operations, procurement and equipment maintenance, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external collaborators

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering or a related field
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in tissue engineering, biomaterials, biofabrication, cell culture or similar experimental work
• Familiarity with mammalian cell culture, sterile techniques, hydrogel preparation and biofabrication workflows
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines and keep meticulous records
