Research Associate - Conductors and Materials Interfaces

About the role

The E2ESR Lab at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, is looking for a highly motivated Research Associate to drive independent research in next-generation electrochemical energy systems. The lab focuses on ion conductors and their interfaces with other materials, aiming to understand and control ion and electron transport and chemo-electro-mechanical behaviour at these interfaces. The role supports interdisciplinary collaboration across materials science, electrochemistry and mechanics, and mentors graduate and undergraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct advanced research on solid-state batteries, high-energy batteries and materials synthesis
• Develop materials for electronic devices such as sensors, semiconductors, switches and transistors
• Design and perform electrochemical, mechanical and advanced materials characterisation
• Collaborate with internal and external academic and industrial partners on joint projects
• Prepare manuscripts for high-impact journal publications and present at international conferences
• Contribute to grant proposal writing and new project development
• Mentor and supervise PhD, Master's and undergraduate students in the laboratory

Required profile

• Masters degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, or technical hands-on experience in materials synthesis, electrochemical testing and advanced characterisation
• Proven track record of high-quality research publications in high-impact journals
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
