About the role
The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU Singapore, in partnership with Wageningen University & Research, is seeking a Research Associate or Research Fellow to advance disease‑resistance research for indoor‑farming crops. The role involves integrating disease screening with metabolomic analyses to identify and engineer plant metabolites that confer optimal resistance.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute disease assays for key indoor‑farming pathogens.
- Screen germplasm and breeding populations for disease resistance traits.
- Integrate disease phenotyping data with metabolomic datasets.
- Optimize metabolite profiles through environmental manipulation or metabolic‑engineering approaches.
Required profile
- For Research Associate: Master’s degree in Plant Pathology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or related field.
- For Research Fellow: PhD in the same disciplines with a proven record of leading experiments and publishing.
- Strong background in biochemistry and plant pathology.
- Excellent interdisciplinary and analytical abilities.
- Collaborative, proactive attitude with clear communication skills.
