Research Associate / Fellow – Plant & Molecular Biology

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU Singapore, in partnership with Wageningen University & Research, is seeking a Research Associate or Research Fellow to advance gene‑edited strategies for Brassica crops in indoor farming systems. You will join a multinational team driving Singapore’s agricultural innovation and food‑security goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise multiplex CRISPR‑Cas genome‑editing approaches for Brassica.
• Design, construct and validate CRISPR‑Cas vectors for efficient gene editing.
• Generate edited Brassica lines and establish transgene‑free plants.
• Perform phenotypic and genotypic analyses of edited plants.
• Investigate genes controlling architecture, biomass, flowering time and fertility.
• Engineer molecular pathways to enhance crop performance.
• Improve tissue‑culture and regeneration protocols for Brassica.
• Document results and contribute to scientific reports, publications and presentations.

Required profile

• For Research Associate: Master’s degree in Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field.
• For Research Fellow: PhD in Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Genetics, Plant Physiology or closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience with plant molecular biology techniques.
• Familiarity with tissue culture, plant regeneration and basic genome‑editing concepts.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
