About the role
The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU Singapore, in partnership with Wageningen University & Research, is seeking a Research Associate or Research Fellow to advance gene‑edited strategies for Brassica crops in indoor farming systems. You will join a multinational team driving Singapore’s agricultural innovation and food‑security goals.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and optimise multiplex CRISPR‑Cas genome‑editing approaches for Brassica.
- Design, construct and validate CRISPR‑Cas vectors for efficient gene editing.
- Generate edited Brassica lines and establish transgene‑free plants.
- Perform phenotypic and genotypic analyses of edited plants.
- Investigate genes controlling architecture, biomass, flowering time and fertility.
- Engineer molecular pathways to enhance crop performance.
- Improve tissue‑culture and regeneration protocols for Brassica.
- Document results and contribute to scientific reports, publications and presentations.
Required profile
- For Research Associate: Master’s degree in Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field.
- For Research Fellow: PhD in Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Genetics, Plant Physiology or closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience with plant molecular biology techniques.
- Familiarity with tissue culture, plant regeneration and basic genome‑editing concepts.
- Strong analytical abilities and capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
