Research Fellow – Integrated Assessment Modeling

About the role

The Yanyan Cheng research group at NTU’s ASE school is seeking a Research Fellow to advance Regional Integrated Assessment Modeling, focusing on the GCAM framework. This one‑year, potentially renewable appointment supports a Singapore NRF‑funded project examining land‑energy‑water interactions and resilience pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and harmonise multi‑source datasets for model calibration and validation.
• Develop new functionalities in GCAM, especially for land‑use, water and energy modules.
• Design and run scenario simulations to assess climate and resource constraints on regional resilience.
• Mentor students and research assistants on integrated assessment modeling workflows.

Required profile

• PhD in Environmental Science or related field.
• Extensive experience with GCAM development, scenario design, and model simulations.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with large‑scale geospatial and socio‑economic data.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English and a record of peer‑reviewed publications.

Required skills

• Proficiency in the GCAM framework (including AgLU, water, and energy modules).
• Advanced programming in R and Python.
• Scripting experience (Bash) and high‑performance computing environments.
