Research Fellow – Power Electronics

About the role

The Energy Research Institute at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to lead cutting‑edge work on grid‑forming power electronic converters and advanced energy systems. You will design, model, control, and experimentally validate converter technologies for renewable integration, energy storage, microgrids, and smart‑grid applications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct R&D on grid‑forming converters, advanced control strategies, and converter‑dominated power systems.
• Design, simulate, implement, and experimentally validate power‑electronic converter prototypes.
• Develop and evaluate control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSCAD or equivalent tools.
• Perform experimental testing, data analysis, and performance evaluation of laboratory‑scale platforms.
• Prepare technical reports, journal/conference papers, and present findings at meetings and workshops.
• Contribute to research proposal development, including literature review and technical formulation.
• Collaborate with the principal investigator, graduate students, research staff, and industry partners.
• Mentor and supervise graduate, undergraduate, and junior research staff as needed.

Required profile

• Strong background in power electronics and control systems.
• Ability to work independently on complex research problems.
• Experience publishing in peer‑reviewed journals or conferences.
• Excellent analytical and technical writing skills.
