Research Fellow / Research Associate (Fiber Reinforced Composites)

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NTU is looking for a research staff member to work on improving the thermal insulation of epoxy-based composites used in construction. The post is open to a Research Fellow, Research Associate or Project Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Work within the project framework to achieve and exceed its objectives.
• Understand and improve the thermal insulation characteristics of epoxy-based composites for construction applications.
• Work closely in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team.
• Display a very high degree of professional ethics.
• Understand safety issues when working with composites and fire protection materials.

Required profile

• Minimally a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline; a PhD is preferred.
• Expertise in handling and processing epoxy composites and/or fire retardancy.
• Understanding of insulation mechanisms and ability to meet project goals within the project timeframe.
• Relevant experience (flame retardant materials, manufacturing of epoxy composites, fire resistance testing) is a significant advantage; a flame retardancy background is a strong plus.
