Research Fellow – Seismic Data & DAS for Earthquake Studies

About the role

The Earth Observatory (EOS) at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Fellow to advance the InVEST project, focusing on dense seismic arrays and distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) for earthquake source and fault characterization in Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse dense seismic and fibre‑optic sensing data to develop methodologies for characterising earthquake and fault processes.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and external partners within the InVEST project.
• Contribute to scientific publications and present findings at conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Earth science, geophysics, geology, physics, or a related discipline.
• Proven track record of impactful research publications in relevant topics.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Seismic data processing for source characterization and waveform modelling.
• Analysis of dense seismic array data.
• Programming proficiency in Python or MATLAB.
• Experience with data management, high‑performance computing (HPC) and GPU resources (preferred).
• Familiarity with distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technologies.
