Research Officer – Contract (Biopolis) – up to SGD 4.5K

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Research Officer on a contract basis to join our laboratory at Biopolis, Singapore. You will work on enzymatic pretreatment and transformation of food sidestreams to create functional ingredients, personal‑care products, and fermentation media.

Key responsibilities

• Execute enzymatic pretreatment and downstream processing of food waste streams.
• Analyse experimental data, generate regular reports and communicate findings to the supervisor.
• Collaborate in the design and planning of experiments.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and uphold good laboratory practices.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental protection (HSEP) regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Bio‑engineering or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience with biomass pretreatment, enzymatic reactions and extraction techniques.
• Practical exposure to microbial fermentation in bench‑top bioreactors is an advantage.
• Strong quantitative data analysis and scientific writing skills.
• Ability to work independently after brief training and manage multiple tasks.
