Resident Architect

About the role

The Resident Architect will act as the consultant’s on‑site representative, overseeing the contractor’s work to ensure it meets design intent, specifications and quality standards. This role involves close coordination with the project team, reviewing submissions and reporting progress throughout the construction phase.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor contractor activities, witnessing inspections, testing and commissioning to verify compliance with designs and contractual specifications.
• Review and approve shop drawings, technical submittals, material samples and coordinated combined services models, ensuring alignment with design intent.
• Raise variation orders or in‑principle approvals promptly when changes occur.
• Provide daily updates and weekly progress reports to the Project Manager, including checklists and documentation.
• Maintain comprehensive site records, correspondence, documents and drawings for easy retrieval.
• Prepare and update lists of outstanding or non‑compliant works for discussion in regular site meetings.
• Collaborate with the Resident Engineer and the broader site team on day‑to‑day operations.
• Attend coordination meetings, take minutes and circulate weekly reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
• Minimum of 5 years of local architectural experience.
• Strong knowledge of architectural practice, installation and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent team player with good time‑management skills.
