School Nurse – Student Health Services

About the role

The School Nurse joins the school health team to provide comprehensive health services for students from preschool to grade 12, as well as faculty and staff. The role focuses on equitable healthcare, health promotion, and emergency response within the school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver health services to students, faculty and staff for injuries, illnesses, and chronic conditions.
• Manage case plans for students with ongoing health issues and develop individualized emergency health care plans.
• Provide emergency assessment, first aid, and coordinate referrals, documenting care and preparing accident reports.
• Conduct communicable disease control through immunisation, screening, health education and enforce Ministry of Health regulations.
• Liaise with teachers, counseling department, external clinics, hospitals and health‑care providers.
• Identify environmental health hazards and recommend preventative measures.
• Maintain confidential health records, manage medical supplies inventory and annual budget.
• Organise first‑aid kits, AEDs, oxygen tanks and wheelchair equipment; ensure regular checks.
• Participate in school trips, overnight excursions and attend relevant meetings.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid practising licence.
• Experience in school or community health settings preferred.
• Willingness to complete safeguarding training and work flexible hours across campus clinics.
• Strong communication skills to interact courteously with students, parents, staff and external partners.

Required skills

• First aid and CPR certification.
• Operation of Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
• Immunisation and disease screening procedures.
