Senior Director, Asia Government Affairs & Strategic Policy

About the role

The Senior Director will lead Qualcomm’s government engagement and policy advocacy across key Southeast Asian markets. Reporting to the Legal Group, this leader will shape emerging technology policy, drive ecosystem development and support the company’s strategic priorities in AI, edge computing, data centers, PCs, 6G connectivity and semiconductor innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, monitor and influence emerging policy, regulatory and technology frameworks in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
• Engage ministries, regulators, digital‑economy agencies and industry associations to shape technology‑neutral, innovation‑friendly policies.
• Develop policy positions, consultation responses, white papers and government‑engagement strategies.
• Collaborate with business units, engineering teams and commercial partners to translate policy developments into business opportunities.
• Support senior executive engagements, strategic visits and high‑level stakeholder meetings, preparing briefing materials and intelligence reports.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs or diplomacy.
• Deep APAC experience across multiple major markets.
• Strong understanding of technology policy, AI, semiconductors, connectivity, digital economy and trade issues.
• Proven track record engaging ministers, regulators and senior policymakers.
• Ability to set regional strategy, empower country leads and align HQ priorities with local realities.
• Executive presence with C‑suite leaders and experience managing geographically distributed teams.
