Senior Java Developer - UPOS & DA Applications

About the role

The NETS Group, a payments services group behind Singapore's national debit scheme, is looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to design, develop and maintain backend applications for its UPOS & DA application portfolio. The role works with developers, technical leads, product owners, QA, DevOps, cybersecurity and production support teams to deliver secure, scalable and reliable solutions, and provides technical guidance to other developers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead requirement analysis, solution design, technical estimation, development planning and implementation for UPOS & DA initiatives.
• Translate business and user requirements into functional and technical specifications.
• Design, develop, test and maintain secure, scalable, low-latency backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, Solace JMS and databases.
• Build new features and reusable components following coding standards and secure development practices.
• Contribute to application modernization and migration, including legacy transformation and deployment to RHEL, containers or the cloud.
• Review architecture, code, database design and interfaces, and conduct code and design reviews.
• Maintain technical documentation and support unit, integration, system and UAT testing, release preparation and production deployment.
• Troubleshoot issues, fix bugs and provide support before and after deployment, ensuring compliance with PCI-DSS and payment scheme mandates.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 8 to 10 years of application development experience, including a senior developer or technical lead role.
• Demonstrated experience with low-latency, high-throughput, highly available transaction processing systems.
• Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and tools such as Git, Jenkins, JIRA, Maven or Gradle.
• CI/CD pipelines, application monitoring, log analysis, observability and incident resolution.
• Container or cloud deployment experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Java 17 or later, Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Microservices, RESTful APIs, web services and service-oriented architectures.
• Linux or RHEL, Solace JMS, MySQL or PostgreSQL, SSL/TLS and JSON interfaces.
• Object-oriented design, design patterns, secure coding, unit testing and performance optimization.
• PCI-DSS, payment security controls and encryption concepts are an advantage.
