Senior/ Manager, Policy & Strategy Development (2 Year Contract)

About the role

The Health Promotion Board's Policy and Strategy Development Division, part of the Policy, Research and Surveillance Group, is looking for a Senior/ Manager to define and develop evidence-based national policies and strategies in preventive health. The role engages senior government and business stakeholders and works closely with other agencies, industry and academic experts. It covers obesity control (food), substance abuse (tobacco and alcohol), maternal and child health and emerging public health concerns, including managing the technical aspects of national labelling schemes such as Nutri-Grade.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse public health findings and market data, then develop evidence-based policies and strategies for general and targeted populations
• Lead consultations with government agencies, companies and experts to address stakeholder concerns and ensure sustainable policy implementation
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies and industry to turn strategy into action, and monitor and evaluate policies and strategies
• Ensure compliance with policies under the Health Promotion Board's purview
• Foster local and international strategic alliances to support policy advocacy and lead conversations on emerging public health issues
• Provide secretariat support for industry-focused committees, support policy formation and legislative amendments, and support research projects
• Handle queries from industry and the public

Required profile

• Qualification in life sciences, food science and nutrition, dietetics or another relevant discipline
• At least 3-5 years of experience in developmental planning and secretariat roles, preferably with public policy experience
• Meticulous attention to detail when handling and interpreting data
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team-focused, fluid and fast-paced environment

Successful candidates are offered a 2-year contract initially.
