Senior Principal Engineer - Energy Technologies Planning

About the role

This role sits within a team that maps out the deployment roadmap for new and emerging energy technologies in Singapore, planning the pathways toward a clean energy future. You will analyse the technical viability of these technologies and coordinate with consultants, academia, government agencies and technology vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Plan the deployment of new and emerging energy technologies in Singapore, including supply, grid infrastructure and energy storage.
• Oversee and coordinate tech planning efforts, scanning and assessing the commercial viability of new technologies.
• Collaborate with other technology branches on deep-dive tech studies and assess new concepts of operation.
• Set up and refresh technology prioritisation frameworks and develop Operation-Technology Roadmaps (OTR) across departments.
• Coordinate research and development efforts across EMA and interface with research performers.

Required profile

• Degree in Materials, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or another relevant engineering qualification.
• Experience in the energy sector or in future system planning/architecting is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of technology concepts and trends, and ability to assess techno-economic and policy implications.
• Able to coordinate complex workstreams with vendors, consultants, government agencies and academia.
• Excellent analytical, planning and communication skills, strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight timelines.
• Knowledge of conventional and emerging energy technologies is a plus.
