Senior Research Fellow (Laboratory)

About the role

The Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS), a Research Centre of Excellence at NTU, is looking for a Senior Research Fellow (Laboratory) to lead the setup and day-to-day running of its new Level 7 synthesis laboratory. The role supports Professor Bazan's research programmes and covers laboratory operations, procurement, safety and coordination with administrative and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the setup, commissioning and operational readiness of the new lab, including space planning, equipment installation and workflow design.
• Oversee daily lab operations and resource use (equipment, chemicals, gases, consumables) and set up management systems such as inventory tracking, equipment coordination and SOP frameworks.
• Support Prof. Bazan's research programmes: track project timelines, plan resources, help deliver milestones, and support grant activities, budget tracking, proposal and report writing.
• Plan and oversee laboratory procurement of equipment, chemicals, gases and consumables, coordinate vendors and major equipment purchases, and work with procurement and finance teams.
• Support lab safety practices, risk assessments, safety training and onboarding, and mentor research staff and students.
• Coordinate lab access, visits and collaborations, and act as the main interface between the lab and IDMxS administrative and technical units.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline with 8 years of postdoctoral or research experience in a laboratory setting.
• Experience in lab setup, operations, resource planning and implementing SOPs and systems.
• Ability to support research programmes, track timelines and contribute to grant and reporting activities.
• Experience in procurement planning, vendor coordination and working with finance/procurement processes.
• Understanding of lab safety practices, risk assessments and regulatory requirements.
• Coordination and communication skills with faculty, researchers and support units, and ability to manage multiple priorities and drive operational improvements independently.
