Senior/Blood Professional Assistant, Blood Resources (Bloodbank)

About the role

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) is recruiting for its Blood Resources Division, Blood Bank team, to help secure Singapore's blood supply. Selected candidates will join a front-facing, close-knit team supporting blood collection at one of the existing blood bank sites (One Punggol, Woodlands or Dhoby Ghaut) or the mobile team. The role involves handling donor enquiries, booking appointments and performing blood collection support duties.

Key responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for donors at blood collection centres: handle enquiries, assist with next appointment bookings and manage feedback.
• Register donors for donation and link them to phlebotomy.
• Perform haemoglobin testing and capping: take blood for haemoglobin tests, explain deferral to donors, check and sort blood bags and sample tubes before passing them to the laboratory.
• Follow up operational admin tasks with the blood collection team.
• Support blood collection processes: phlebotomists with phlebotomy competence support operations in donation rooms, while others assist with whole blood pre- and post-donation procedures (bag preparation, bandaging, stripping) and apheresis (plasma, platelets or red cells separation) registration and tube preparation, with training provided.

Required profile

• Minimum GCE N/O Level or above, or equivalent.
• Willingness to be deployed to One Punggol, Woodlands or Dhoby Ghaut blood banks, which operate 6 days a week, 9am to 8pm (hours vary by location).
• Shift rostering covers morning, afternoon and weekend shifts over a 5-day week; night shift is not required.
• Candidates with recognised phlebotomy skills or 2 years or more of experience in similar settings are considered for Senior Blood Professional Assistant positions.
