About the role
Micron is hiring an SSD Validation Engineer to own the end-to-end performance and power maturity of assigned Data Center SSD programs. The role covers execution quality, technical depth and cross-functional alignment, ensuring performance and power targets are met from early bring-up through customer qualification. It combines technical execution, data-driven decisions and program-level leadership across firmware, architecture and platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Own end-to-end performance and power readiness, from early firmware maturity through customer qualification, and deliver high-quality performance and power data aligned with program goals.
- Drive program status updates on performance and power to Product Development and other stakeholders.
- Perform in-depth performance analysis and root-cause debugging, understand firmware behaviors, state machines and hardware interactions, and identify performance risks early with Firmware, Architecture and Systems teams.
- Represent the performance perspective in product change requests and lead change implementation.
- Plan and forecast infrastructure and development needs, and ensure performance test levels match each program phase and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Firmware, Architecture, Systems, QA and PDT, and drive process alignment with the DC SSD Performance Test Strategy.
- Participate in internal engineering forums and share standard processes across geographies.
- Identify gaps in performance methods, coverage or tooling and propose improvements.
- Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve efficiency and quality, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Strong background in SSD performance and power characterization.
- Hands-on experience with data analysis, workload execution and performance debugging.
- Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to internal and external partners.
Required skills
- Solid understanding of firmware-hardware interactions affecting latency, bandwidth and power.
- Baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools effectively.
