Vendor Quality and Inspection Engineer

About the role

AIBEL is seeking a senior Vendor Quality and Inspection Engineer to lead quality, risk and improvement activities for FPSO/EPC projects. The role involves coordinating vendor inspections, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with QA/QC standards across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in vendor risk sessions, internal audits and experience transfer activities.
• Coordinate and monitor third‑party inspection activities, ensuring timely issuance of inspection reports.
• Develop and follow vendor package plans based on ITP requirements and liaise with clients, construction and operations teams.
• Prepare weekly and monthly vendor quality reports for the Lead Quality Engineer.
• Conduct planned and ad‑hoc audits of vendor activities, raise non‑conformances and ensure corrective actions are documented.
• Collaborate with construction and mechanical completion disciplines to align quality activities with project schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of quality engineering experience on FPSO/EPC projects, with at least 5 years in vendor inspection coordination.
• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related field.
• International or European Welding Engineer Certification and valid CSWIP Welding/NDE Inspection certification.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally at short notice.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
• Proficiency in NDE methods and review of related procedures.
• Basic knowledge of coating systems and EIT inspection requirements.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with oil‑and‑gas standards such as ASME, ANSI, ASTM, API, ISO and NORSOK.
