Accountant – Financial Reporting & GAAP Compliance

About the role

Farnell, a global high‑service distributor of technology products, is seeking an Accountant to maintain the general ledger, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support compliance with GAAP, SOX, and XBRL standards. The role involves month‑end close activities, preparation of financial statements, and collaboration on budgeting and strategic planning.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Analyze financial trends, costs, revenues, and commitments for quarterly and annual reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and strategic plans.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and XBRL reporting requirements.
• Support internal and external audits, intercompany billing, and collection activities.
• Provide guidance for acquisitions, divestitures, system conversions, and special projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Less than 2 years of relevant experience.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and industry standards.
• Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and collaborate with team members.

Required skills

• XBRL tagging and validation.
