Application Engineer - Composite Solutions

About the role

The Application Engineer provides technical support, mainly for customer quotations and business development case studies on composite applications. The key focus is understanding customer requirements and quickly showing how composite-based solutions can meet them, with costing, timing and resources included in the proposals. Travel with the business development team to customer sites is required.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to technical queries with detailed analysis of building management systems, schedules, tooling costing and design and process improvements.
• Work with engineering, sales and operations staff to understand component fabrication techniques, composite materials and customer demands, then prepare design details for sales.
• Create and present customer proposals, including 3D representations of finished goods and tooling.
• Prepare cost estimates from blueprints, plans and customer documents, consulting engineers and other professionals.
• Conceptually design composite components and assemblies, and generate solid and surface CAD models.
• Prepare detailed bills of materials for proposals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Process & Instrumentation Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of PLC programming.
• Experience with transportation composites or other composites preferred.
• Willingness to learn new things; entry-level candidates are welcome to apply.

Required skills

• PLC programming
• PcVue or ICONICS software
• CAD modelling of solid and surface components
• Knowledge of ACMV and controls associated with Johnson Controls Metasys is an advantage
