Applications Development Engineer

About the role

KLA's Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells inspection, metrology and analytics systems that help chip manufacturers meet quality standards for AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. The Broadband Plasma (BBP) division supplies optical inspection systems used by logic, foundry and memory customers. As an Applications Development Engineer, you will deliver high-impact work across your area of expertise, supporting product adoption worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Support product value demonstration during beta testing, head-to-head and ramp phases, investigate semiconductor manufacturing yield issues and provide inspection solutions
• Create and share product value statements and use cases with engineering, marketing and sales groups
• Train customers and other applications engineers, including on-site training of Field Applications Engineers and end users
• Provide product demonstrations and assess potential applications to meet customer needs
• Develop test plans, characterize tool and algorithm performance and give feedback to engineering teams, especially during Alpha/Beta tests
• Diagnose and resolve customer problems, and educate and coordinate activities with customers
• Document test results and lessons learned in Best Known Methods, training documents, demo and Alpha/Beta test reports, and transfer product knowledge to Field Applications teams
• Prepare demo and test reports and present to internal and customer audiences

Required profile

• Master's degree with 0 years of related experience, or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience
• Degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or a related field
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Strong team player who works autonomously with limited supervision
• Willingness to travel more than 70%
