Assessment Specialist – Senior Manager/Manager

About the role

The Centralised Skills Assessment and Validation Initiative (CSAVI) at SIT seeks a detail‑oriented Assessment Specialist to lead the design, validation and continuous improvement of competency‑based assessment tools for national skills recognition.

Key responsibilities

• Design assessment frameworks and instruments for multiple industry sectors and job roles.
• Develop and validate content such as situational judgement tests, oral interactive assessments and simulations.
• Apply psychometric models (CTT, IRT, Generalisability Theory) to evaluate item and test performance, ensuring validity, reliability and fairness.
• Conduct statistical analysis, create scoring rubrics, standard‑setting protocols and examiner calibration tools.
• Analyse assessment data, produce technical reports for internal stakeholders, industry partners and policy makers.
• Lead or support research on assessment innovations and psychometric methodologies.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification in psychometrics, instructional design, educational measurement, applied statistics, psychology or related field.
• 3–7 years experience in assessment development, test validation or educational measurement, preferably in higher education or certification contexts.
• Strong statistical and psychometric expertise with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Experience working with diverse teams including subject‑matter experts, educators and technology partners.

Required skills

• Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Winsteps and SPSS.
• Familiarity with digital assessment platforms, test security and large‑scale assessment deployment.
