Assistant Director – Legal Service

About the role

The Assistant Director (Legal Service) will join the People's Association's Legal Division, providing comprehensive legal advice and support to the organisation, its divisions and grassroots organisations. This senior position works closely with senior management to shape policy and ensure legal compliance across all activities.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement policies and actions.
• Draft regulatory instruments, including legislation and subsidiary legislation under PA's purview.
• Provide legal advice and interpretation on PA‑administered statutes and all other Singapore laws as required.
• Draft, review, and advise on a wide range of legal documents such as tender documents, MOUs, tenancy agreements and other commercial contracts.
• Establish internal legal processes, guidance, and a repository of legal advice for PA divisions and GROs.
• Manage potentially contentious matters and liaise with external counsel.
• Undertake ad‑hoc projects and tasks assigned by the Deputy Director or Director (Legal Service).

Required profile

• Law degree and admission to the Singapore Bar (or other Commonwealth jurisdiction).
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably with corporate and contract law exposure.
• Strong analytical ability, capable of multi‑tasking under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision.
