Assistant Manager – Accounts Receivable (1‑Year Contract)

About the role
The Assistant Manager (Accounts Receivable) will provide operational leadership for the university’s invoicing functions during a one‑year maternity cover period. The role ensures stable, accurate billing for students, sponsors and other debtors while supporting system‑related activities and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Manage end‑to‑end invoicing processes, including generation, adjustments, reversals, credit notes and cancellations.
- Maintain accurate student and debtor master records throughout the student lifecycle.
- Support AR operations within core systems such as the Student Information System and Finance ERP, ensuring continuity during system changes.
- Assist in resolving operational and system issues, coordinating with IT and external vendors as needed.
- Contribute to monthly closing activities, reviewing reconciliations, exception reports and variances.
- Prepare invoicing data for government claims and budgeting, maintaining proper documentation and audit trails.
- Collaborate with Finance, IT and operational teams to address invoicing, data and system issues.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance to AR staff and escalate complex matters to the Accounts Receivable Manager and Finance Business Partner.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, GST requirements and funding guidelines, and support audit preparations.
Required profile
- Hands‑on operational leadership experience in accounts receivable or invoicing.
- Ability to supervise and guide AR staff within established processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data handling.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams such as Finance and IT.
