Assistant Manager, Estate Management

About the role

This Assistant Manager, Estate Management position is part of a team managing and maintaining State properties. You will handle handovers and takeovers of properties, carry out maintenance inspections, implement corrective and preventive works, and manage stakeholder feedback. As asset manager you can propose and implement modern technology to strengthen the current maintenance regime, and may occasionally join island campsite operations and event management, or attend inter-agency meetings on infrastructure maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect properties, detect issues and recommend improvements or repairs, and liaise with and supervise term contractors such as vector control, grass-cutting and cleaning to verify their performance and payment claims
• Assess costings and quantities, including preparing tender documents
• Oversee design and construction work from start to finish, keeping it on time and within budget
• Process returns of properties from government agencies, private licensees or tenants, and propose reinstatement requirements so properties are returned without encumbrances
• Handle public feedback and incidents, and proactively propose preventive measures to keep properties safe for public use
• Manage the appointed agent responsible for unallocated vacant land and buildings

Required profile

• Background in Facilities, Estates or Environmental Management, Quantity Surveying, or Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound knowledge of pre- and post-contract duties and contract administration
• Tech-savvy and able to think out of the box; occasional work at offshore islands may be required
