Assistant Manager, Lab Operations

About the role

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NTU is seeking an Assistant Manager to run the Computer Aided Design laboratory. The postholder provides technical and administrative support for teaching and research activities and oversees lab safety standards in line with ISO 45001.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative support for undergraduate and research activities.
• Deliver planned teaching support for laboratory classes, experiments and projects.
• Maintain and configure computer hardware so it stays in good working order.
• Manage and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on computers and Windows servers.
• Procure laboratory software, equipment and consumables in line with purchasing guidelines.
• Manage laboratory assets and keep accurate records for inventory auditing.
• Ensure safety practices, conduct safety risk assessments and keep the lab clean.
• Keep equipment properly maintained, safe and in good working condition, and ensure enough resources exist for teaching and research.

Required profile

• Recognized degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum 2-3 years in a Computer Aided Design or Computer Aided Manufacturing environment.
• 1-2 years preferably administering and configuring computer systems (IT knowledge).
• Good computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and ability to support students in class.
• Initiative, willingness to learn and interest in continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Computer Aided Design and engineering software such as SolidWorks, SolidCAM, Ansys and Autodesk Fusion.
• Knowledge of Computer Aided Manufacturing.
