Associate Medical Laboratory Technologist (Histology)

About the role

The Department of Pathology is seeking an Associate Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform routine histological tests that support disease diagnosis and treatment. You will work closely with pathologists and senior staff in a fast‑paced laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and log laboratory specimens, assign charge codes, and reject non‑conforming samples.
• Assist pathologists with specimen trimming, evaluation, and grossing of simple cases.
• Perform processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and complex staining, slide mounting, labeling, and block checks.
• Carry out frozen cryo‑sectioning, including liver transplant and renal explant services.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, prepare reagents and stains, and manage inventory of chemicals.
• Follow good laboratory practice, safety manuals, SOPs, and quality‑assurance documentation.
• Support senior staff with additional duties and participate in training as required.

Required profile

• Diploma in Life Sciences, Biomedical Science or equivalent (preferred).
• Relevant experience in a histology laboratory (preferred).
• Meticulous, initiative‑taking, and able to work effectively in a team.
• Strong communication, multitasking, and time‑management abilities.
• Proficiency with laboratory computer systems and software.
