Building Trades Worker – Maintenance & Repairs

About the role

The Building Trades Worker provides hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair services for commercial properties, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds and equipment. The role ensures safe, efficient operation of building systems and responds quickly to emergency requests.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair building systems including HVAC, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, and shop equipment.
• Clean, lubricate and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and hydraulic devices.
• Install, modify and replace building equipment and finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, paint, flooring and piping.
• Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment for safety hazards and perform preventative maintenance.
• Maintain fire and life‑safety systems, including fire alarms and fire pumps.
• Perform carpentry tasks, snow removal and other general maintenance duties as needed.
• Use technology (smartphones, tablets, computers, web‑based applications, building automation systems) to log work and access information.
• Comply with all codes, regulations and company safety policies, including annual C&W safety training and uniform dress code.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in commercial property maintenance.
• Technical or vocational training in one or more areas such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, carpentry or engine repair.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; commercial license may be required.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and ability to work shift, on‑call or extended hours.
