Commercial Manager

About the role

The Commercial Manager will drive revenue growth for SG Group’s three maritime entities by winning new customers, securing charter contracts and increasing fleet utilisation. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, the role works closely with Operations, Technical, Finance and legal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, qualify and convert new commercial opportunities across offshore contractors, shipping agencies, terminal operators, bunker suppliers, marine construction firms, ship managers and government buyers.
• Maintain a live opportunity pipeline with deal values, probability weighting and expected close dates, and report progress regularly.
• Lead commercial responses to tenders, RFQs and quotation requests, coordinating scoping, costing, pricing and submission.
• Develop entry strategies for adjacent service lines, including market sizing and competitor analysis.
• Represent SG Group at industry events, port community forums and customer meetings to maintain visibility with key decision‑makers.
• Track vessel‑by‑vessel employment, identify idle tonnage and convert it into revenue‑earning charters.
• Source charterers, negotiate time, voyage and bareboat charters, and prepare charter party terms in consultation with legal advisers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development and charter negotiations within the maritime or shipping sector.
• Strong analytical ability to gather market intelligence on rates, capacity and competitor offerings.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement across operations, finance and legal functions.
